Holiday stress can affect everyone, even children. There are many potential stressors during the holidays. Some potential stressors are gift-giving pressure, family get-togethers, money worries, lack of time, travel, and taking time off work. Stress can lead to emotional problems.
What are some of the negative impacts of holiday stress-
• Withdraw from social life
• Feelings of sadness
• Loss of emotional control
• Sleep disturbance
• Frustration
What to do to manage holiday stress:
• Use healthy boundaries with family, friends, coworkers, etc
• Problem Solving
• Acknowledge your feelings
• Reach out to your emotional support system
• Mindfulness- bringing attention to the present moment and identifying what really counts
• Self-care
