Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is TeleTherapy right for me?
    • TeleTherapy may be right for you if you are looking to improve the quality of your life. Whenever there is anything that interferes with your happiness or prevents you from achieving your goals, we may be able to help you virtually. We have counselors who are licensed and specialize in treating various issues such as stress, anxiety, relationship problems, parenting, depression, addictions, eating disorders, insomnia, pain-management, trauma, anger, family conflicts, LGBT matters, grief, behavioral problems, self-esteem and much more.

TeleTherapy is not the right solution for you if any of the following is true:

You have thoughts of hurting yourself or others
You are a minor or you are under the care of a legal guardian
You are in an urgent crisis or an emergency situation
You have been diagnosed with a severe mental illness, or if you have been advised to be in psychological supervision or psychiatric care
You do not have a device that can connect to the Internet or you do not have a reliable Internet connection.

  • Is TeleTherapy covered by my insurance?
    • Many insurance carriers do reimburse for tele-therapy sessions including psychological assessments. Check with your insurance company to see if reimbursement is an option. Keep in mind that your medical insurance represents a contract between you and the carrier, not between the carrier and us. If your insurance fails to pay, then you remain responsible for all fees. We will bill the insurance company directly for you. Please remember that this, in no way, removes your obligation to pay any fees, or portion of fees not paid by your insurance carrier. All co-payments and deductibles must be paid prior to the service and will be determined based on your individual insurance policy.

Medicaid and most health insurance plans cover the cost of these services; however, coverage and limits vary by individual policy.

  • After I sign up, how long until I’m matched with a counselor?
    • In most cases you will be able to see a counselor within 48 hours.

  • How will I communicate with my counselor?
    • The professional counselors who work through one of our 4 SACBC locations (click to see all our locations) or our VCounselors which is our sister business for video conferencing. All are licensed and credentialed therapists who were certified by the Texas state licensing board to provide counseling.

  • How can I be sure that San Antonio Counseling and Behavioral Center can help me with my problems?
    • There are many studies that confirm the effectiveness of online therapy.

Our confidence in the platform comes primarily from feedback and testimonials we receive from our happy users.

Every day we are excited to hear from more people about the way this service helped them make a tremendous change in their lives.

  • What equipment do I need to do tele-therapy?
    • You will need access to internet, a smart phone, tablet or laptop.

A private area where you can speak freely to your therapist to maintain confidentiality.
