Laura Sobotik, LPC

We are all doing the best we know how to do, until we learn how to do something different. When we learn different skills and techniques, we can experience a higher quality of life through finding our most authentic self. My therapeutic approach is based on my experience as a counselor, a yoga instructor and meditation teacher. I use a combination of talk therapy, mindfulness, breath work and body awareness to provide a holistic approach to physical and emotional wellness. I am a trained level two

iRest® meditation practitioner. iRest® is a meditation protocol that assists clients in increasing resiliency, well-being and health through the use of body sensing, breath awareness, non-judgmental explorations of thoughts, emotions and core beliefs to establish a sense of being present and for clients to experience their unchanging wholeness. I strive to provide a welcoming, warm and safe environment where clients can freely explore their emotions, thoughts, and core self beliefs.

 I believe in a mind, body and spirit approach and teach clients how their emotional distress presents as somatic sensations. For clients seeking Christian counseling, we can incorporate biblical truths as a tool and source of support in your treatment. We have the innate tools to bring a balance of mind, body and spirit. I aim to bring client awareness to these innate qualities and empower clients with the skills on how to apply them in daily life.

 

My experience includes working in inpatient, non-profit, residential treatment centers and outpatient settings with children, adolescents and adults who have experienced active crises, domestic violence, grief and loss, prenatal and postpartum issues, separation and trauma.
