Anxiety is a way that our body responds to stress. It is an overwhelming feeling of apprehension about what one feels might come. Anxiety has many symptoms including, but not limited to, a sense of feeling shaky, increased heart rate, headaches, trouble breathing, difficulty sleeping, and a sense of overthinking and/or excessive worry. Symptoms might vary from person to person.
Anxiety is treatable! First one must look at making some lifestyle changes such as reducing caffeine intake or getting enough exercise. Also, one can learn helpful techniques to reduce anxiousness in counseling. Techniques can be useful in helping to distract thoughts and reduce anxiety symptoms. These include stress and relaxation techniques, visual imagery, deep breathing and grounding techniques. Anxiety can affect you at any age. Remember that anxiety is treatable and there are professionals that can help you.
