I am a passionate practitioner in the field of clinical counseling who divides his time between clinical practice, training, and consulting. In the clinical practice, I deliver cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based treatments to adult and adolescent clients with a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and adjustment problems, such as anxiety, stress, depression, and relationship problems. In my consulting work, I provided intensive supervision to clinicians in many locations around the country to include Chicago, Oklahoma, New York, San Antonio, and Cleveland. They acquired skills to deliver Brief Strategic Family Therapy”BSFT” in their practice. More, I provided consulting and training services to the Pediatric Clinic at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Family Services Association of San Antonio, The Juvenile Probation Department In Bexar County, the Texas Youth Commission And The Patrician Movement drug treatment and Rehabilitation services in San Antonio.
Furthermore, I collaborated with the Family Center at the University Of Miami Miller School of Medicine, with a nationwide research commissioned by CSAT studying Brief Strategic Family Therapy and the Fidelity of the model as a scientifically based Family Intervention/treatment Program. In addition to serving for two years as Fellow and Clinical Supervisor at the Family Center In Miami studying under Dr. Jose Szapocznik and Olga Harvis M.S.W, LCSW developers of the Brief Strategic Family Therapy. I am also certified as a Brief Strategic Family Therapist and a Clinical Supervisor. I believe that is gratifying to introduce scientifically based interventions like Brief Strategic Family Therapy and CBT to clients and therapists, alike, to empower them and witnessing dramatic transformations using such intervention modalities in clients with depression, anxiety disorders, suicidal ideation, personality disorders, and addictions. He is eager to apply her experience and compassion with clients as they begin to address issues that will help them to improve their quality of life and attain a sense of fulfillment.
I received my BA in psychology from our Lady of the Lake University, and masters in mental health counseling from Webster University. I also hold a Master in teaching specialized In special Education, and a Master’s in Business Administration. Mr. Salem Is Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. Furthermore, I hold a license as a program administrator for Repeat Offender Program and Intervention/Prevention program trainer from the Texas Department of State Health Service.
I Served as a program Director at the Patrician Movement for many years and has been in private practice for 25 years. I served as Military Family Life Consultant/Counselor since 2009, and provided services to Military service men and women and their families in many location in the US Europe and Asia. I am also proud to have served as a member of the Ryan White planning counsel in Bexar County, and served as Chair of the Rayan White Planning counsel and a consultant to Bexar County Commissioner Court under Commissioner Court Judge Cindy Krier and Judge Wolf. Furthermore I provided service as a contract and proposal reviewer for the Human and Health services in Washington DC, and a member of the Texas Cross Border Initiatives.
